Weapons that miss a lot should really hurt weapons that don't. The UI for it is out-of-view more often than not, in non-VR.ģ. Also having Fuel just feels a bit redundant, honestly, but if they're both going to be things, the UI needs to be better. Just having working mechanics in isn't nearly enough. Heat management as Balance means you need to make it really totally obvious how to manage it, how far you can push things, etc. Not because it was the greatest mechanic ever.īut, since I presume you're going to keep it. MWO and earlier Mechwarrior games had Heat in, as a concept, largely to make FASA happy, and then because, "fans expect it". There are no numbers anywhere the 'mech's clearly have different heat pools, etc., but the mechanic is vague, opaque and doesn't really make things more Fun.Ī better MWO clone would have a "button you press to get rid of Heat" mechanic that's core that disables weapons / jumping using it in mid-air might result in Death By Ground Collision. None of this is explained well by the Tutorial that I played and it's certainly unclear if you jump right in to MP. Looking at the radar, for example, was downright painful.Ģ.The Mechwarrior-like heat mechanics, and Fuel, are a little hard to understand. frankly, we need a different display setup. But for those of us not strapped into headsets. Honestly, I'm not sure why futuristic giant robots need anything but a HUD, but I get that this is a nod to MWO and Mechwarrior games in general, with Big Clunky Tech. ![]() The UI, in non-VR, is pretty difficult to read. I like supporting small Indie developers and I know this must have been a true labor of love to get it to EA, so I'm leaving this here and I'll review it when I next take a look.ġ. It feels like it has a fair amount to work on, and while there may be all sorts of subtle mechanics, the feel wasn't compelling enough to stick around and "git gud". this is a game I'll try again in maybe a year. But these were the things I encountered as a newbie, with no prior study of the game, playing in non-VR. I'm going to apologize in advance it's a long list, and I'm giving it to you straight, so it's a little critical. ![]() are the areas I felt like could use the most improvement. Overall, the experience was pretty darn good, for a low-budget small-team game. I've played MWO and some other games like this, and I'm a lifelong FPS player who's developed gamecode before. This is my feedback based on a quick play-through. ![]()
